Google is testing password free logins

Google is rolling out a new passkey feature to provide additional security to users' accounts. The new passkey feature is coming to Android devices and Chrome only. Google is already testing the passkey feature on these two platforms. Users will soon be able to use this service as an alternative to prove their identity through PIN or biometric authentication to login to any website or app instead of password. Google is touting it as a safer alternative for users than the two-factor authentication method. In May this year, tech giants like Microsoft, Apple and Google announced a simple password free sign-in option for users. Developed by the World Wide Web Consortium and the Fido Alliance, it is called ‘Passkey’. The search engine giant is now making it a reality. However, developers can use this alternative login service of Google for now. Google may open this service to its users later this year.
